What you’ll do:

As our Communications Manager, you will implement multi-platform communications strategies in order to drive attendance to the organization's events, engage new volunteers and supporters in its work, and tell the story of the people that make NYC Pride a reality. As a member of the team, you will work under the direction of the Media Director (a volunteer member of the Executive Board), providing updates and managing input from the Media Committee. Additionally, you’ll work closely with the other members of the Executive Board, volunteers, event production staff, and media consultants.

 

The day to day:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of print, tv, and web media outlets, reporters, and producers.
  • Write and distribute press releases, and pitch stories to media contacts.
  • Collect media clips and keep organization membership apprised of media pick-up.
  • Work with the Media Consultant to develop and implement the annual media credentialing process for events.
  • Support the planning of press conferences, photo lines, and on-site interviews occurring prior to and during event week.
  • Develop eNewsletters and other email communications that inform and engage the organization’s members, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Manage the development and editing of all website content.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Board and staff to ensure the site is consistently up-to-date.
  • Serve as project manager on the organization’s contracts with graphic and web designers, photographers, and video producers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality content that propels NYC Pride’s mission.
  • Ensure successful implementation of all media sponsorship agreements, including the placement of print and web advertisements.
  • Prospect and secure new media sponsors while also nurturing current media sponsor relationships.
  • Identify new opportunities to promote the organization and its events.

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 3+ years of real-world experience related to communications, marketing, and media.
  • Excellent writing skills, with a history of developing impactful and concise content.
  • Experience in B2B and B2C communications, and comfortability in the social media space.
  • Track record of attention to detail 
  • Passion for NYC Pride’s mission and producing our Iconic events.
  • Ability to attend monthly night and weekend meetings/events in order to engage the organization’s volunteer engine.
  • Commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and social justice causes.

Work Conditions:

This role will take place in a hybrid work environment consisting of virtual meetings, as well as in-person work in an office setting that is compliant with COVID-19 health and safety standards set forth by the CDC.
The work entails some exposure to cold, heat, varied weather conditions, and excessive noise and vibration.
