Front of House Manager

New York, NY Contract


This is a temporary position (June 20-25) with minor advance work that assists with the execution of Pride Island 2018. The Front of House Manager will report to the NYC Pride Event team. The Front of House Manager will lead Pride Island’s Front of House team to ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for our patrons. Qualified candidates will have extensive team leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment.

This is a contracted position. Compensation is negotiable.


  • Communicate with Event Coordinator/Managers about daily and ongoing site needs and issues as they arise
  • Work with senior event staff to oversee volunteers as assigned
  • Manage VIP/Cabana operations
  • Direct Food & Beverage operations, supervising Bar Managers and relevant staff, to act as point of contact for vendors, facilitate efficient service, and maintain a comprehensive inventory of beverage stock
  • Work with senior event staff to implement venue policies (including ticketing, safety, and security)
  • Work with senior event staff to supervise open and close of the venue to the public, including entrance operations and bag check process
  • Attend to ADA/special seating needs
  • Gather and compile notes and create a comprehensive post-event assessment



  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in event planning or operations. Extensive relevant experience may also be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with large-scale events.
  • Prior sales and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Prior ticketing knowledge preferred.
  • Prior Food & Beverage experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and interdepartmentally.
  • Proficiency in various productivity platforms, online services, and databases, including: Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Dropbox, Eventbrite (or similar), Salesforce (or similar).
  • Excellent communication. Position requires frequent contact with the public, volunteers, sponsors, and persons of high rank.
  • Strong time-management abilities and the capability to deliver results on strict timetable.
  • Strong personal work ethic and the desire to take pride in assigned work. Position often requires handling of equipment and supplies that must be kept in excellent condition.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a demonstrated commitment to the LGBT community and social justice


The work requires moderate physical exertion, including: bending, kneeling, stooping/standing, and lifting/moving heavy objects up to 50lbs.

The position will be on-site and expected to perform the job outdoors. The work entails some exposure to cold, heat, varied weather conditions, and excessive noise and vibration.
