Costume Designer

New York, NY Contract Allows remote


This is a temporary position that assists with the execution of costume design for the annual LGBT Pride Festivities in New York City. The Costume Designer will work in tandem with the Event Directors, Event Managers, Event Coordinator to create and execute designs for development events and Pride Island. The Costume Designer will be responsible for working within the provided budget.

This is a contracted position. Compensation is negotiable.


  • Work with Event Managers/Directors to develop concepts that represent the “Defiantly Different” theme and build relevant costume renderings
  • Design, build, and execute these designs to be used at several events
  • Coordinate fittings as needed with talent
  • Ability to track costs and adhere to the provided budget
  • Attend relevant in-office meetings
  • Gather and compile notes and create a comprehensive post-event



  • Applicants 21 years of age and above preferred
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience in Fashion Design (extensive relevant experience may also be accepted in lieu of a degree)
  • Knowledge of and experience working with large-scale events
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and interdepartmentally
  • Excellent communications as position requires frequent contact with various stakeholders
  • Strong time-management abilities and the capability to deliver results on strict timetable
  • Strong personal work ethic and the desire to take pride in final product
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a demonstrated commitment to the LGBT community and social justice




The position will work remotely. Occasional attendance to scheduled meetings and events is required.
